Set yourself a goal

Set a goal, and we’ll guide the way!

Even the longest journey starts with the first step.
Before starting your training, you have to ask yourself a few questions:

1. What distance?

Before choosing a distance, you should examine your lifestyle and level of fitness. If you’ve only recently made the decision to get up off your couch and head for battle in a triathlon, then we suggest a sprint or olympic distance. This is a great option if you’re just starting out, and we know it’s more than doable for beginners. We also urge you to get examined by a physician to make sure your health will allow you to compete in such a physically demanding sport. Always remember that your health is number one! The longer the distance you choose, the more time you will need to prepare.

If you’re an experienced triathlete and want to be challenged, then you can choose to compete at a higher level.

The most common triathlon levels are:
– Sprint: 0.75 km swimming, 20 km cycling, 5 km running
– Olympic: 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling, 10 km running
– Half Ironman: 1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling, 21.1 km running
– Ironman: 3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling, 42.2 km running
– Ultra Triathlon: distances above IRONMAN

Once you know the distance you’ll compete at, then it’s time to find the right competition. If you’re a beginner, we recommend you choose a triathlon close to home. This will keep your cost low for things like transport and accommodation, and it will decrease stress related to traveling.

First, check out when you can register and make sure there are still free slots available. Sign up early! Don’t wait until the last minute to take care of the entry fee. Keep in mind that you’ll need plenty of time to properly prepare and train for your triathlon.

Choose a date that’s far enough in the future to make sure you’ll have plenty of time to prepare. It’s also very important to check out the route of your competition. You should know whether or not the difficulty of your triathlon will be heightened due to the number of elevations on the cycling and running routes.

The most prestigious completions under the Ironman brand name sell out quick, so you’ll need to register well in advance. We recommend signing up six months in advance for the most popular triathlons. These competitions draw large crowds and slots for competitors are on a first come, first serve basis.

A list of all Ironman-brand competitions can be found at:

If you decide to compete in a part of the world that is far from your home, we will advise you based on time needed for travel and everything related to the time/climate change. All tips will be provided once you choose the location of your dream race.

2. Which races?

3. How much time do you have?

When making the decision to compete in a triathlon, each individual needs to look at their family and professional responsibilities. This way, you can decide how much time you’ll be able to dedicate to training.

Regardless of the package you choose, individual training units are spread over six days because this is the most optimal way to train. Day 7 is always a rest day dedicated to regeneration. You decide which day of the week will be your off day.

Basic package: 6 workouts (1 training unit per day).
Medium package: 9 workouts (3 days – 1 training unit per day, 3 days – 2 training units per day).
Elite package: 12 workouts (6 days – 2 training units per day).

Every plan is individually tailored to each triathlete’s fitness level and chosen number of training units. This allows us to lead both beginners and the most experienced triathletes to victory!

It should go without saying that motivation is a key element in every sports activity. It affects the way we train and how easily we hit our goals. The triathlon is an individual discipline, therefore, everything will depend on your level of engagement and how thoroughly you perform your exercises during your individualized training sessions. We guarantee the best, proven training methods. However, it usually takes many months of regular work to achieve desired results.

We know from experience that our athletes create good time management habits because we create their training schedule in advance every week. This allows them to take care of all of their personal responsibilities while training with us. After a few weeks, you’ll get into the right rhythm and will get great satisfaction from your trainings. The progress you make will push you even harder and will motivate you in your triathlon adventure.

Many of our athletes have been inspired to complete in triathlons by videos of exhausted contestants crossing finish lines with tears in their eyes and looks of indescribable joy on their faces as they hear the words they’ve worked so hard for – “You are an Ironman.”
